The larger of Rome's two airports, and also named Leonardo da Vinci, this is the largest in Italy and gateway to the Eternal City. It saw 40 million passengers in 2023 and its website is www.adr.it/web/aeroporti-di-roma-en

Parking

There are car parks at each terminal.

Terminal 1 - Parking A - in front of the terminal, covered except top floor, a short walk to the terminal, dedicated area for motorcycles

Terminal 1 - Parking B - in front of the terminal, covered except top floor, a short walk to the terminal (closest to T1), dedicated floor for electric vehicles, dedicated Executive area

Terminal 3 - Parking C - in front of the terminal, covered except top floor, a short walk to the terminal

Terminal 3 - Parking D - in front of the terminal, covered except top floor, a short walk to the terminal (closest to T1), dedicated Executive area


In addition you will find the following.


Long Stay - five minute shuttle to the terminal, every five minutes (every fifteen minutes 0100-0500), stops are Lunga Sosta car park, Arrivals T1 Stop P8 and Arrivals T3 Stop P9. Covered section and cheaper uncovered section.

Drop Off

There is a Kiss & Go area. This allows up to fifteen minutes free in front of Terminal 1 or 3. There is a second area called Kiss & Go Departures T1 which is free for forty-five minutes.


There is also a free hour available for electric vehicles that charge at the Atlante columns.

If using the Executive parking you will get priority access.


There is a Fast Track available at €7. There is also a QPass scheme allowing you to book a timed slot for free.


Although more part of check-in, it is possible to check your bags at the train station with ITA Airways (all routes except USA and Israel). 0800-1400, online check-in required.

There is a shuttle that goes to the Hilton Garden Inn from Terminal 3 A8 Arrivals, every fifteen minutes.


Immigration

Reclaim

In the reclaim area check the boards for which carousel you need to attend. Should luggage go astray you can visit the service desk where you can complete a PIR (Property Irregularity Report).

Taxis

These are available at both Terminals in the arrivals area. Authorised taxis are white and will have a TAXI sign on the roof. The area emblem is on the front doors and the licence number is on the front doors, back, and inside.

Any fare from the airport to a place within Grande Raccordo Anulare cannot exceed €73.


Buses and Coaches

There are a few bus options.


Cotral - stops at Terminal 1 Arrivals, heads to main underground stations such as Tiburtina, Cornelia, Magliana and Ostia. Change at Magliana for a train to Termini. Tickets can be bought at authorised shops (e.g. newsagents) or on the bus for an extra charge. Typical fare is €2.80 to Magliana.


Schiaffini Airport Bus - stops at Exit 6 Terminal 3 Arrivals stand 15, heads to Termini. Tickets can be bought at the T3 ticket office or on the bus. €5.90 single.


SIT Bus Shuttle - stops at Exit 6 Terminal 3 Arrivals stand 12, heads to Vatican, Aurelia and Termini. Tickets online or on the bus. €7 single.


TAM Bus - stops at Exit 6 Terminal 3 Arrivals stand 13, heads to Ostiense and Termini. Tickets online, at the T3 ticket office or on the bus. €7 flexible single, €6 fixed time single (€12 flexible and €11 fixed for returns).


Terravision - stops at Exit 6 Terminal 3 Arrivals stand 14, heads to Termini. Tickets online, at the T3 ticket office or on the bus. €6 single.

Rail and Trams

There are two services into the city.


Leonardo Express - non-stop to Termini, thirty-two minutes, every fifteen minutes, 0520-2235 from the city, 0608-2323 from the airport, €14

FL1 Regional - various stops, about fifty-one minutes, every fifteen minutes weekdays, every thirty minutes weekends and holidays, €8 with a change at Trastevere
